20 days left! Can you believe it? I just talked to Mom and Dad yesterday and it was then that I realized that I have been in Antarctica for 6 months. Half a year. Can you believe it? I can’t, it has gone way too fast. Angie said it’s from always working. She’s right. 54 hrs of my week are already dictated. Every week I have to account for them too and send off my Labor allocations. Still, 14(?) days till first flight and 20 days till last flight, the one that I will be on.
I just wanted to try to tell you about “The Plan”. I just got charged for plane tickets I bought. $628 is getting me from New Zealand to Ecuador and then back home – that’s including the fare credit that Raytheon provides to get you back home. I’ll be in New Zealand for almost 2 weeks. I would like to hang out a little bit with the last flight people, and I need to get up to Bay of Islands to visit my friends. I might be able to stop in Rotorua as well but I really didn’t leave much time. Especially if the flights get delayed like is common. I’ll be HOME Oct 4!! Well, maybe technically Oct. 5 since I land in Minneapolis at almost midnight. Dad wished me good luck on finding a ride home. Bummer he’s not much of a night person.
It was a great weekend. The last two day weekend. There are no two day weekends in the summer. My two day weekend is this week which is also the art show and the polar plunge and I might be able to stay at the A-Frame. Maybe.
Troy and I went to work this morning to do 2 days worth of shoveling – there were no GAs for the weekend. It blew a little bit and it drifted a lot. I think the worst part was that the stairwells had been packed down for 2 days. We didn’t get done till 9:00. At least. The food order is now put away. Nothing too incidental there. I just like to see the stacks of vegetables and what-not. It’s also fun to badger the cooks. They always have stories. Today’s feature was one cook’s “ex-girlfriend” that didn’t realize she was an ex and sort of was a crazy stalker. I guess I don’t have time to go into it but she sure gave pining girls a bad name.
We just got over a major heat wave as well. I know it got up to 20, maybe even 22 above 0. Yesterday it was 16. Today it’s back to -20 or whatever. Sad. But the sun is still growing stronger. I think we get the first peak in a little more than 10 days.
Now it’s off to Rec to most likely help restock the alcohol on station. More lifting heavy stuff. I just love how it all piles onto one day, major snow, food order, alcohol, and tonight it’s pinsetting. All the challenges rolled into one. I’ll be by myself for this last pinsetting but it’s only 2 games and I think it’s only one team. We’ll see how that goes.
