I am so excited to share this new journey with you. This is a guided meditation that someone commissioned me to illustrate. When she first came to me with her idea she was very reluctant to share this vision as she considers it very sacred. When I finally presented her with her painting she had had a change of heart and decided that if anyone can benefit from this meditation then this needed to be shared. So with permission, here you go world. Let me take you on her journey. We shall call my friend Jay. This is a practice of cleansing the mind/the ego of negative emotions.
Our journey begins at a bridge as we prepare to cross from the worries of life to serenity in meditation. At the foot of the bridge is a drum that Jay begins to play. She plays the drum as the beat of Mother Nature’s heart, sometimes she plays it to her own heartbeat. The rhythm leads Jay across the bridge to 3 Moons, her guide for her journey. 3 Moons is a gentle wise soul, ready to listen and accept, ready to love and comfort. She leads Jay over to a large fire where they sit and talk about the problems and burdens of this world. Jay throws negativity and limiting feelings into the fire. She throws in conflicts, doubts, fears, guilt, frustrations. There is always something to try to weigh her down from her highest self and this is the place to lighten her burden. Everything she discards is immediately burned up in the fire and carried away in the smoke and sparks. 3 Moons quietly listens as Jay vents her feelings and when Jay thinks she is done 3 Moons always asks, “Is that all?” There is always something deeper and more hidden to find and to dredge out into the light to be burned, to be cleansed. I like to think of the power and energy of fire itself and the nourishment for new growth it leaves behind in its destructive nature. When Jay is finally empty of all that she can burn 3 Moons walks with her to a crystal clear waterfall. Jay bathes beneath the coolness and power of it and watches the sludge of all that had burdened her wash away. For a while the river runs murky at her feet but the waterfall brings never ending pure mountain water. Can you imagine the power and weight of a rushing waterfall? How every spot of grime would be blasted away? Or is your waterfall a gentle soothing wall of trickling water? Jay stands beneath the waterfall until the river before her runs clear. So absolutely crystal clear is the water that it sparkles and shines with the rebirth of purity. As Jay steps out from the waterfall, looking up to receive the healing light from the sun, a dress, as soft and white as a doe skin falls upon her cool skin. 3 Moons leads Jay to one final spot, a gnarly tree with roots reaching everywhere. They sit beneath the tree and talk as true friends reveling in each others company.
When Jay is finally ready, they walk along the river bank, back to the bridge where Jay comes back to our world. She leaves 3 Moons at the bridge where 3 Moons is always ready to welcome her back.
I hope you will try going on a journey like this. Thanks for reading. If you have found this encouraging, or if there is anything you’d like to share, please comment. As I said before, Jay was very reluctant to share this. I thought it would remain my first private painting so I would love for her to see how this may impact others.
Collaborating with Jay in designing this painting from a storyline is a story in itself and I will tell you all about it in my next post.
