So, this is the first time that I have figured out a way to show my pictures in the order that I wanted to. Simone has been a great help but it still took me hours. Now I am taking forever to type as my fingers unthaw. I have had another event filled week. Each week I hone my schedule a little bit more. Some of these pictures I’ve already talked about. Such as Troy below.
This would be the doorway to Southern just before Troy took care of it. We’ve had a bit of wind and the snow has built up a bit. I didn’t realize how much snow we had until they graded the roads and now there’s is a step in the snow to get on the walkway into 155. Southern is the smoking bar. Full name: Southern Exposure.
I took both pictures of Ob hill on the same day. One is around 9:00 in the morning, maybe even 10:00 and the other is later in the evening, probably 12 hrs later. When I first got here it was always broad daylight, now it’s getting dark by 8:00.
Monday was our waste day. Here is a picture. Many of the buildings are these round roof contraptions. The coffee house, gym, bowling alley. . . there’s more. Can you see where they added a 1 on the speed limit sign so that it reads 115 mph. Sarah is the lead in waste and there is Kelly at work. Can you read Sarah’s name tag? It says Jackass, sorry about the resolution.
I am trying to get as many pictures of this place as I can, as fast as I can but that means that the quality has been rather poor. On the right would be family meal. We DAs eat before the meal is served, while things are still quiet. Just the galley family. This would be me getting ready for a day’s work. Troy is in the front, Sandy, an ER nurse by trade, is on my right. Luke, across from Sandy had his 21st Birthday just before last flight, he’s a line cook. At the other table is Shane and Larissa. Shane works is a cook, Larissa works in the office and is his girlfriend. They met down here, hooked up and returned as a couple. Romance does happen down here.
Earlier I talked about Skuaing. This was the first day that I got to see Skua Center. Everything is up for grabs- and free. Emily, the garlic gagger, on the left, then to Jana (Yana) from Germany, and NC Jason. My other fellow DAs.
The first night that the Blue Ballers played I went to learn how to pinset. It was great fun. I tried to get pictures of the tiny place but it’s just another emphasis on how out of date my camera is getting. That is most of the room though. There is a little hallway/partition to get to the pinsetting.
Meet Matt, he’s pinsetting and making it look easy. Can you see his crazy patched pants? Skua. He’s resting above a pit. When I stand in the pit the pins are just over waist high. That bench is a bit higher than a counter top. Imagine jumping up and down from there after picking up those pins after every frame. Crazy fun.
Speaking of crazy fun. Troy got to go on a little boondoggle on his day off. That’s any sort of little morale trip. They actually had a purpose, setting flags. Flags=road. I didn’t get to go but the pictures are pretty cool. You can see the set up they have and if you look to the right at the line of flags there are actually older flags that are getting slowly buried in snow.
Simone, lead DA, looking freaked out, that’s called photographic timing. PS. Skip the next picture for the queezy.
I think this picture of Wendy is my favorite. That is the result of a successful poke.
It’s great that this foloows the IV training but these events are almost a week apart. Thursday it was time to learn to be a stretcher bearer. Troy gets to be the victim and we did just about make him a real victim when we tipped him. That’s Brad cheesing for the camera and Steve is in the back.
This is about as up-to-date as you can get. That is me learning to drive a pickle less than 2hrs ago. As I type this I still have most of my gear on. All right. I am going to go and type a real update. I just can’t write with the pictures distracting me.
