Tonight is my last night in Chapel Hill. I am very sad to be leaving. I’m very sad to be thinking of the month I’ll be away from my darling so I’m going to focus on the project ahead. My bags are packed. I have a 15 hour bus ride ahead of me tomorrow. I have newly purchased yarn for the ride and almost a whole wrist cuff already knitted.
So here’s the plan, Mary will pick me up in a nearby town. We will do some immediate sight seeing to get a feel for the town, pick up the supplies, and finalize the mural design. What I’ve posted tonight is my last design that I worked out. I’m still not completely sure about the sun, if it should be brighter or have more variations of yellow, maybe some more lilac. The town is a bit unfinished. Maybe the scale should be bigger, maybe it should all be darker. Maybe the green should be less springlike. I’ll also add some small stars towards the town.
An interesting turn of events is that Dad is talking about setting sail soon to get his boat out to the ocean. Where I am painting the mural is only an hour South of Erie, PA, a town that is just before the locks. He needs a crew of 3 to go through the locks. Casey and Mom are planning on driving out to meet him, and he has a crew member that will accompany him for 2 weeks. This is all a bit up in the air right now but it means that there is the potential to see my family in the next month and for them to see my mural project. I am so excited for it to work out like this AND I’ll get to see Dad’s boat on it’s voyage out to the ocean, as well as Mary meeting my family.
Mary also says that her waitress has quit as of last Friday and she has offered for me to waitress at lunch, skipping the hottest part of the day painting and making some cash while I’m in Pennsylvania. Things are coming together. It’s exciting to see. I’ll be keeping you posted.
