I think I’ve officially toasted. Or at least had the first signs. Last night didn’t help. There was a smoothie night in the upstairs lounge, everyone brought their alloted fruit to contribute. Sometime in the night a group of us decided to rearrange my room. So COOL! I get to have it like that for about 2 days. Well, it’s all neat and cozy, a total mess but cozy.
That did not contribute to a fitful night’s sleep. Instead I stumbled into work being greeted by beaming Emily and Mandi. I returned Mandi’s sing-songy “Good Morning” with ,”Don’t make me kill you.” Luckily in the morning there is stuff do and I kept fairly busy. It was chipper Morning Mandi that bit the dust though. I don’t know what she did but I heard a thud and Emily yell for help and there was Mandi sprawled on the ground. Nurse/DA Sandy and her husband, the doctor, Glenn were having breakfast and came in the dish room immediately. Safety Ryan was just getting a plate so he was there as well. I, myself, went off to the pot room for my next tasking only to stand in a back corner amongst roast pans and cry. Now it’s funny but at the moment toast and lack of sleep attacked me. Of course, the first person to find me like that was only the big boss, Sally. Great. A winter over DA already sobbing in a back corner and the second flight hadn’t even arrived yet.
Winfly has a total of 4 incoming flights. They were scheduled every other day but Thursday’s is on Wednesday instead because of bad weather in Cheech (Christchurch). At break I searched out Mandi and I cried again as I explained the pot room phenomanon to her while she laid on the floor moaning about her ribs. We laughed hysterically at the state of us.
As for the rest of the day, Jason slept in and missed family meal, Emily fell on the ice and was in medical when Mandi’s earlier fall finally caught up to her and she couldn’t catch her breath. What a day. Then the 107 new people. It wasn’t quite as bad this time but now that we all acknowledge how bothered we were by new faces we just clung together in the dish room and didn’t look in the Galley. What a sad bunch. We’re losing a cook and the admin. today. They were told at 9:00 this morning that they are now leaving tomorrow. They are on the bumped flight. How exciting but how sad. Guess it’s another going away party. I was calculating today, the plane ride is 5 hrs. I can count on sleep on Sat. Supper time again. Couldn’t even eat my breakfast this morning. Nice.
