Just saying hello, I exploded a batch of chocolate frosting today during my baking segment. Each DA helps Christina in the bakery for 2 hrs once a week. My day is Thursday. There’s cocoa powder every where. I always have bad luck with that stuff. Last time I worked with cocoa powder I misread the measurements and put in 12 pounds instead of 1 lbs. and some ounces.
I started another e-mail to you earlier this week but it got long winded and boring before I even got to the point of it so I thought I would tell you the point of it, about Monday, as well. Monday was GA day (general assistant), and the highlight of it was at the end when we were throwing garbage away in various dumpsters. As we were going about the general duties we heard a loud pop like a cork out of a wine bottle. It turned out that Molly and I had just witnessed an O-ring bust off some block or something to do with antifreeze and antifreeze immediately emptied from a nearby parked truck. Spills in Antarctica are a big bad thing as the NSF ( National Science Foundation) tries not to impact the enviorment. I got to practice thinking fast and helping out and all that fun stuff. The fire department gets called for spills, they were right across the street but the crew came over in full gear in a real fire truck. It was the first time that I have seen the firemen in uniform. What a strange phenomanon to see buddies, people you see at parties and sitting at lunch and then to see them working at their job. I’ve been seeing a lot of that lately. I see everyone when I am working and they are coming to eat or take a break. In the beginning people only recognized me in uniform so it’s a switch for me to see anyone else actually working.
Anyways, I believe it’s a condition 2 right now, there was some talk about it being a condition 1, I’ll have to go look at the board. Troy, Christina and I stood out on the back dock and watched the wind blow by. The wind always comes straight down the road, knocks you sideways when you go to take out trash or coming and going from the dorms but the way the dock is it’s covered with 2 big garage doors and those look out across the street/wind tunnel.
One more thing, if you guys looked at that weather forecast, Dad pointed out to me that the sunset time was misprinted. It’s supposed to read pm. The afternoon twilight is now disappearing as well. I’m glad I know where my head lamp is. I hope to get the nerve to hike up Ob Hill sometime. Actually, I wish I would make that a regular thing. All right, getting long again. Talk to you later.
