I have about 15 minutes before another day as a DA begins but I was just going to say hello and whine about how sore I am. Man alive, last night I did the 1 1/2 hr of yoga, a tougher routine and then I went from there to train for pinsetting. It was the first night of the league games. The DAs had their first game. They are wearing the blue DA shirt and calling themselves the Blue Ballers. Cute. Chad and Justin are on the team as well. I got to be behind the scenes and reset their pins. It was great. It reminded me exactly of my days of pitching fish, you jump down into a hole, lift up heavy cumbersome objects, and throwing them into a target area. It really is manual pinsetting. I couldn’t believe it. You get to peak through blinds at the players, you have to keep track of who is up, is it their second try? And on the 10th frame the players shout it out so we pinsetters know to give them a third set of pins.
I took some pictures but they weren’t that great. Maybe once I get some better ones I will explain the whole process. It’s pretty simple really. You’ve seen the regular automatic contraptions that come down and set the pins, that’s almost the same except instead of a big arm coming out and sweeping the alley it would be my arm fishing around for pins. I put them back on the setter, pull a string and the machine sets the pins down and pulls itself back up to ready position. As for the bowling ball I gotta pick it up from whatever corner it has rolled into and put it on it’s little rail. Just like a marble game or a slide. Once it’s up it in theory has enough momentum to roll down the lane, up the other hill and come to rest ready to be picked up and played. I got to see it last night when it didn’t work and the ball only went up the hill a little ways then headed back our way. Anyways, I had a blast and if I had more time I would think about doing this twice a week. We’ll see though.
Well, it’s time for breakfast/lunch (10:30). I will just say that Emily had a great B-day, she got the cooks to make her filafel, Christine made her strawberry short cake, and everyone pitched in and got her a massage.
Yesterday for GA day Troy and I were sorting out the skua, I got bags of stuff including a Twister game and throughout the day I was reminded of our IV sticking day whenever I got to see my little needle mark. Time to eat. Talk to you later.
