Look what I can do! I can be on youtube! I have been so good at waiting to show this off. I was super nervous to agree to do a video but at the same time I’m realizing I have to do some scary things to get my art out there. I guess I’m finally ready to talk about my art – in an editable way. I look forward to sharing more about my vision and passion and how they have fit in my life story.
I have had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful lady, Donna Ensor of Authentic Heart Productions. I hope you add her to your linkedin circles, find her on Google+, if she’s not on those she’s definitely on Facebook. Her passion is to record the authentic voice of women and provide a tiny glimpse to the world of their hearts. She says it better on her website.
We met at a networking meeting where, after seeing examples of my art, she described a vision she had had and I sketched it out on the spot. Since then she has offered to do a promo video for me and I have gotten to practice speaking my authentic self. Her questions were so provoking though that I forgot about the looming camera and got into reflecting about my life and the purpose of my art. I don’t know how many hours we talked on camera. She has taken one of the stories and made this video. I think more will be coming. We have been talking about collaborating, I’ll keep you posted. I am loving this approach of speaking openly and honestly, of just saying what is on my heart. Speaking my mind is a new thing for me. I can paint, I can write (and rewrite) my ideas but to just sit down and say it and speak, the way I can stumble over a sentence can be quite entertaining.
We filmed this in my art studio, Donna was great at helping me feel comfortable and just breathing and centering. As added measure I “girded myself with strength” and put on things from friends that I love. It’s like I had encouraging sisters holding me in support. I hope you take a look at some of this amazing talent that I got to wear. Here’s Barbara’s Facebook page for cotton beenies, my color is “Paprika”. Check out Arianna and her beautiful jewelry like the Venetian glass earrings (those are my bling), and Kate Stockman’s creations. Kate helped me pick out a couple necklaces that would help me “dress like an artist”. I wanted to remember my power of being myself and this necklace is perfect. I envision that hole in the wheel of the Picasso Jade (how perfect is that stone for me?) is like a nozzle funneling all the light and energy in my heart out into the world.
So what is your moment? Can you remember back to your childhood when you just knew what you wanted or who you were? Whatever memory might pop up, even if you don’t think it’s the answer play around with it a bit. What was the emotion that grabbed your attention? How have you gone forward to recreate or maybe prevent that emotion (sometimes it’s the negative experiences that empower us to action)? Think about your life as a story, the chapters that have passed are the foreshadowing to what is playing out now. Are things coming together? How is your character development doing? Please comment below so we can all experience that little childhood moment that you were never able to forget, that began you on your journey of who you are today.
Thanks for reading, thanks for watching but most of all, thank you for sharing your life story. Once you share your life story in the comments, please consider passing this to 3 other people whose “beginning” story you would like to hear. Let’s all inspire each other.
