May Highlights

June 5, 2007 by Rachael Shores

Highlights:
–we’ve put in a new patio, repainted the trim on the house and garage, painted the picket fences, stained the deck (I got to feel tough or in pain many days – good times), Dad kindly built us a raised flower bed, then Bethany planted a garden and cleaned out the garage. Now it’s a two car garage.

–We girls got to go to the preview showing of Pirates 3. Charity and I dressed as Pirates to shake up the neighborhood a bit.
–speaking of “shaking up” I got pulled over for what I would like to call the Foley version of drunken joy riding. At some point in the beginning of the evening I had a beer. Then Bethany and I drove to my parents’ house for something. It was about midnight when we finally were back in Foley and a cop started following me at a stoplight, we took a left, a right, a stop sign, another left and all the way to our dead end street where he finally pulled me over in the driveway for not signaling for that final right turn. I was driving “suspiciously”. Quite entertaining. Those cops are so bored. I forgot to mention that it was a wild Monday night. Next time we get followed home by a cop we plan on changing course and just aimlessly cruising.

–Grandma Lofthus turned 80

–Grandpa Sorenson had a week in the hospital because his platelets were incredibly low.
–this was just days days after my aunt had gotten her gall bladder removed. Dad and I were Up North a lot.

–I’m now working for Dad rebuilding classic wood boats. My job is to take apart the rotten original.
–Charity has a job. She’s not happy about that but it’s some training in computers and now she doesn’t have to watch her savings slowly trickle.
–Uncle Mikey started work on his cabin.

Some of these last things I mentioned to help explain why the boat is so far behind schedule. Dad has done a lot of home improvement stuff as well.

Did I tell you I’m going to North Carolina after Alaska? Immediately after. I arrive in Minneapolis at nearly midnight from Anchorage then less than 6 hrs later I’m flying to North Carolina. So fun. I hope I’m all haggard and crusty when Jason picks me up. I like having the feeling that I’ve just crawled out of some ditch and I shouldn’t be out in society.

Talk to you soon.
