Before: my corner art desk and book shelf
Before: my inspirational wall
I’ve envisioned a bright teal for my room. I had the plans of painting one accent wall teal but Mom and Dad convinced me that it would be too much work and expense for something that would be mostly covered up.
Dad’s suggestion for more storage was to mount sturdy shelves along two walls of the room, just above the window frame. I would get my teal fix by painting those.
I was going to have clothes pins in matching teal. They took almost longer to paint than the boards and molding.
Look how cool that looks!
Dad also screwed a wood crate to the wall. I’ve had it on my desk for ages and now it’s still a shelf, still above my desk but I have more surface area. I decorated it with my favorite things -reminders of friends and family.
A close up of my inspirational wall. This has art I’ve done, art from other artists, mail, photos of my travels, reminders of my friends and family. I started it with the idea of “I am awesome” but it quickly transformed into “life is awesome.”
I am so excited for this improvement and so grateful. I now have a giant shelf to hold all sorts of flat things, I’ve got more storage, bright colors, and one spot to collect all my inspirations. It’s a big contained artsy mess.
