I had an awesome picture to show at Zapow’s steampunk themed show and the reception was so much fun and hugely successful. Thank you so much to all my friends that came out and supported me. I sold more art that one night than I’ve sold ANY month that I’ve been at Zapow’s. You can learn all about the process Max’s Mechinations and all the helpful inspiration I got. Read more…
The steampunk reception at Zapow was a great success. It was featured in several news sources, including a Latin travel show.
My parents came for a fantastic visit and Dad vamped up my studio. I’ll be blogging about that in March. It is my happy place now.
A new painting has just been completed and I’ll be showing it off tomorrow
Several commissions came in, a pet portrait, a request for CD art, my first order for Christmas (smart move, I say), and I’m working with a realtor company to make illustrations for a brochure for a million dollar house for sale.
Prints of Lilly (the donkey) and Christie are now available. 8x10s are only $12. I painted this in 2005 and still love it.
What’s Coming up in March
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing on Facebook my latest Vision Painting. It is so beautiful! It will be made available on Etsy tonight.
All of my llx14 Giclee Prints on Etsy are all on SALE! Come and find your favorite. I’m losing count of how many I have to offer.
One of the main projects this month is Zapow’s upcoming trifecta show featuring Dr.Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars. It’s out of my element but I have a plan.
I’m taking computer classes to support my art. I’ll be learning and setting up my website in wordpress, learning illustrator techniques for drawing and designing layouts. I think my Intermediate PhotoShop class starts in March as well. I’m so excited to add this skill to my art.
If there’s still time I want to add a Sacred Mullet painting to the series. Easter is coming.
I’ll be blogging about the latest Vision Painting, how it came about, it’s message, the painting and process.
Watch for the big “before and after” blog of my art studio. Great DIY tips – or HDDI (have Dad do it) I have a sneak peak of my “Inspiration Board” at the bottom of this e-mail.
Mother’s Day is coming up – if you’re thinking about ordering her a commission of her favorite child, her family, your family’s generations of mothers, I have time for 2 commissions. The styles, different worlds, time periods, etc provide endless possibilites. Check out the illustration and story of last year’s Mother’s Day present The Schafer Girls, it is one of the illustrations featured in my newsletter above. The original is 11×14 and comes matted. Archival quality 11×14 giclee prints are available so the whole family can have their own copy. Families have already come together to invest in their own illustrated heirloom. One of my favorite things to do is put a family in their favorite setting or to illustrate a specific story from family history. “Remember that time …” I can recreate that whole scene. For Mother’s Day get 2 11×14 Giclee prints ($68 value) with your purchase . Your commission will also come matted ($45 value). Be ready for a 2-3 hour consultation by phone, skype or in person (preferred) where we get the whole plan laid out. This Mother’s Day package is $400. Contact me for more info. Orders must be placed by April 2. Get your family in on it and split the costs and then make your mother cry, in a good way.
Helios Warriors needs HELP. I have been volunteering as a massage therapist with Helios Warriors, a non-profit to provide alternative care to veterans. They are in dire need of some financial donations. They are on the verge of closing their doors. Please consider donating whatever you feel moved to here. There are also talks of fundraising auctions. If you would like to help out in any way please contact them. All their services are provided by volunteers and they provide a very broad sliding scale in a beautiful facility.
