Hey all, it’s my second day off and whaddya know but I am back on the computer. That’s ok. I just like talking to you guys all the time. I thought since there was enough to talk about this weekend I might as well get an early start on my weekly summary.
So, last night was a fancy schmancy wine tasting party. I didn’t actually participate in that. Mandy and I already recieved a full wine tasting not so long ago. Anyways, there were two bands, everyone dressed up really nice, the lights were low and it was just that warm sort of glow that you get from tasting a few wines. It was great. I had stumbled across Gear Issue when they were open and I sifted through costumes till I got kicked out. I decided that wine tasting called for some glamour so I found my pirate wig, a boa, pearl necklace and headed out ready to call everyone “dahling”.
Once the Coffee House was over firecode capacity they quit selling wine tickets to at least appear like we had lower numbers. I drew for awhile in my sketchbook till friends arrived. After 10:00, or whenever the music ended, we headed to Southern. This is the party route. You start with some official Rec stuff, then sneak off to Southern for some drinking and laughing at drunks and then you end up following the mob to an after hours party in some lounge or someone’s room, depending on how many are still swingin’. Anyways, I was just happy to feel all pretty in my wig and ballerina petticoat.
I think my favorite part of the evening would be when we were sitting around the table and one guy came by and latched his hands onto Jason’s chest in a way that should not be done with a girl and I really wouldn’t think it would be very nice to do to a guy either. Then this unnamed “guy” made his way over to me and leaned down and put his hand on my shoulder. I instantly found myself reaching over and twisting his two fingers which sent him yelping. It’s been a long time since I’ve used a finger twist. I just had to make sure I could still do it. Everyone else thought it was hilarious. In fact, it was pretty funny. Stupid guys.
After that I was more bored and tired. Jana and Simone lip sank to songs I’ve never heard of. We played the hand slap game and a few variations, some arm wrestling, some thumb wars. We didn’t do much roaming and visiting. I like mingling with everybody.
Anyways, I got to bed at a descent time, I got up early to shovel for Mandi, then I got to go inside Scott Hut. It was highly interesting, a part of history when there were numerous expeditions going on and I cant’ distinguish between them enough. I know a few people died though. There’s penguin carcasses still hanging on the wall, they had a really rough time.
Now I am going to go back to my room, maybe straighten it up a little, I have some newly patched Carharts to try on. Two pair in fact. There’s a Thai woman down here. Now that I know that I say Sawatdee-kah to her every day. She was working in the craft room as well and helped me on the sewing machine. The new industrial machine we have is super sturdy, it’s the sort used in factories and Soyloy used to work in a factory and knows how to operate it. She was busy fixing a mop head. I guess we are all having dilemas down here. She only has one mop head in the size that she prefers for her janitorial duties. There are no more, so she’s repairing it. How crazy is that? I think of Simone with her black pants. She only has ONE pair of work pants which she wears 6 days a week. I don’t see how they can last for 6 months. Soyloy, which I don’t think is the proper way to say her name, cut a skirt out for me while I worked on my pants. I can’t believe it, an a-line skirt in my size and knee length. I can’t wait to sew it up and see how accurate she was. There is tons of material scraps in the craft room. I want to make some sort of funky skirt. I’ll have to think about that. It’ll be quilt-like for sure. Anyways, I am off.
Oh, did I tell you about next week’s party? Yeah, this is just making me sound terrible BUT it’s the sunset party AND they are going to vote for a King and Queen of Darkness. I don’t know what the qualifications are for that but if it has to do with costume I am already schemeing. I going for Goth. heh heh. All right. There should be some great pictures next week. Talk to you later.
