|Receiving Oneness by Rachael Shores 16×20 Watercolor|
As delicate as a flower may be, the impression it leaves and the art they can inspire are breathtaking. So small and low to the ground, it’s postition in life does not stop it from being beautiful. Trees, tall and majestic, sheltering strength, stand out on a horizon but can be taken for granted when they are so numerously grouped together in the woods.
I see this image and I relate to the flower, I am fragile and delicate, I am unique – but I don’t feel that I am as beautiful as the Western rose or sacred as the Eastern Lotus. Perhaps, I can relate more to the tree, in the background, strong, reliable, lost in the shadows – but it’s strength and steadfastness I don’t feel I emulate, especially in the winds of change or storms that run their course through our life. The hands remain. These look like strong hard working hands, warmed and comforted by the glow of the flower but they are also sheltering and protecting this flower. Perhaps the radiance of the flower is being projected by the hands. How am I capable of that kind of power? Where do you see yourself in this picture? Can you feel healing hands resting on your forehead, bringing you peace and comfort? Are you sitting beneath a tree feeling it’s age and steadfast strength? Are you lifting your hands up in prayer asking for connection and light? I can see a bit of myself in everything. If you can relate to a flower can you move a step further and see your radiant beauty? Can you recognize the healing in your hands? Can you remember being strong, steadfast and deeply rooted? When have you been healed and when have you been the healer? Do you think that we are an aspect of all these things all at once? Is, perhaps, “oneness” not such a foreign concept?
In this composition I invite the viewer to stand back and be the viewer, to receive healing wamth as they need until they can come to relate.
